Free Comic Book Day 2015 (& haul!)

The first Saturday in May every year is Free Comic Book Day- a day when you can go to your local comic book stores and get free comics. Most comic book publishers put together comic books specially for the day featuring their most popular characters or introducing new series, as well as specially put together comics from TV shows.

This years FCBD was yesterday, and me and my sister got up bright and early to hit the comic book shops and make a day of it! There were all sorts of amazing cosplays and the atmosphere was brilliant.

I had planned on taking lots of pictures so I could do a really cool blog post about it all, but typically forgot to and this is the one and only picture I took on the day! This was on one of our many coffee stops, and my sister is giving the thumbs up as we look through some of our loot.
So here are all the free comics I got, as well as a turtles FCBD badge and some power rings. The main ones I was hoping to pick up were The Avengers/ The Inhumans, and the Fight Club 2, which I did so I'm very happy! :)

As well as free comics I couldn't resist having a little shopping spree. Nostalgia & Comics in Birmingham in particular is like a treasure chest of amazingly cool stuff. So here are the things I got...

I don't tend to buy single issues that often but couldn't resist getting a few. I got the latest issue of Buffy, I'm not up to date with it (still in the middle of S9 but I'd heard this was a good Spike centric one), I got the LE Justice League Dark/ Beetlejuice cover issue, Guardians Team up: Gamora Meets She-Hulk, the oldest issue I could find of Bitch Planet (as I'd heard this was good and wanted to give it a try), and finally issue 2 of Jem and The Holograms. The artwork and colours in this are STUNNING.

Nostalgia & Comics were also doing some special price back issues, so I grabbed a Marvel £1 pack, which had 3 X-Men issues, and an Issue of Fear Itself and a DC pack which had 4 comics I'm not too familiar with but they are all first issues which is handy. As well as that I got a back issue of She-Hulk, a series I'm reading at the moment and a Captain Marvel which is on my 'to read' list.

Random merch and collectibles are my weakness! I got some pin badges for my collection and a Guardians of the Galaxy Funko Mytery Mini, and a Kidrobot The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror blind box.

I ended up with vampire Burns, and Rocket. I have a feeling both of these collections are going to become new obsessions. Must find a witch Lisa!

Finally my favourite purchase, and one that I'd planned on getting was the Catwoman Vinyl Vixens figure. I love anything Catwoman related and this collection is just beautiful. There is also a Harley Quinn, and Poison Ivy which are equally as cool!

So that was my Free Comic Book Day 2015. It was a huge amount of fun, and Nostalgia & Comics in Birmingham were particularly great. I'm now going to spend the rest of the day reading my comic stash!

  1. Wow it sounds like your local area is so hype for FCBD!
Maybe it's changed since the last time I went to one because there wasn't any cosplay, it was pretty dull :O

I'm always a sucker for blind boxes in Comic stores too and I adore your Cat Woman figure!!

You got some great stuff! Admittedly I forgot all about FCBD, but I don't think any shop here takes part :( I'll have to remember next year :)
